TL;DR: Pick the Halo M1 if you want an aluminium build, a built-in ring grip + kickstand, and a ring that holds strong on a magnetic car mount. Pick the Apex M1 if you want a minimalist low-profile shell, more colour options, and a lower price for everyday carry. Both are MagSafe-compatible with N52 magnets. Both are made for the Z Fold 7, 6, and 5, and you'll find both in our Galaxy Z Fold 7 cases collection. For every type of Fold 7 case ranked, see our best Galaxy Z Fold 7 cases guide.
The honest diff
These two cases occupy almost the same niche: slim, MagSafe-compatible magnetic Z Fold cases. The differences are real but small — build material, grip hardware, colour range, price. We'll go through each so you can pick once and move on.
Build & feel
Halo M1 uses an aluminium metal build. Cool to the touch, premium hand-feel, and durable protection in a slim profile that follows the phone's original lines. The trade-off: the metal build and fold-out ring put more hardware on the back than the Apex M1.
Apex M1 is a minimalist, low-profile shell that follows the phone's original curves for a thin, lightweight feel, with reinforced edges for 360° impact defence. It loses the metal look but gains pocket-friendliness in a phone that's already heavy when unfolded.
Winner: Halo M1 for build prestige, Apex M1 for slimness.
Grip & stand
This is the biggest functional difference. Halo M1 has an integrated alloy ring that rotates 360° and opens to 120°, working as both a finger grip and a kickstand. Apex M1 is purely a slim shell — no integrated grip or kickstand. You're holding the phone, or you're using a separate accessory.
Winner: Halo M1, decisively. The ring is the case's signature feature.
Magnets & MagSafe
Both use N52-grade magnets — one of the strongest grades of neodymium magnet. Both work with MagSafe-style chargers, magnetic car mounts, and accessories, and both support wireless charging without removing the case. On the Apex M1, magnetic shielding keeps the magnets from interfering with the phone's internal sensors or signal.
One nuance: the Halo M1's ring is designed to hold strong on a magnetic dashboard mount over bumpy roads, and once you've parked it doubles as a stand. The Apex M1 uses the same magnet grade and suits chargers, wallets, car mounts and desk stands just as well — it simply has no ring to grip or prop the phone.
Winner: Halo M1 for in-car use, tie for everything else.
Apex M1
A minimalist, low-profile MagSafe-compatible Z Fold case with N52 magnets. Four colours, a lightweight feel, and a lower price than the Halo M1.
Shop Apex M1 →Colours
Halo M1: three premium metallic finishes — Titanium, Black, Blue. The colour range reflects the metal aesthetic.
Apex M1: four finishes — White, Black, Dark Blue, Orange. Brighter selection, especially the Orange.
Winner: Apex M1 if you want a non-neutral colour.
Price
The Apex M1 is the more affordable everyday pick. The Halo M1 costs a little more for the aluminium build and integrated ring. Prices change, so check current pricing on the product pages.

Which one to buy
Buy the Halo M1 if: you mount your phone on a magnetic car dashboard often, you want the metal hand-feel, or you use a ring grip / kickstand daily. The premium is justified by the integrated hardware.
Buy the Apex M1 if: you want the slimmest pocket profile, you don't use ring grips, or you want a colour like Orange that the Halo doesn't offer. Put the difference towards an Ion Glass screen protector.
If you can't decide and want hinge + screen protection too, look at the Spineguard P1 instead — different category, more coverage: a spring-loaded hinge cover, a built-in 9H cover-screen protector, and an N52 magnetic ring that doubles as a kickstand.
FAQ
Can I get a Halo M1 without the ring?
No — the ring is integral to the Halo M1's design. If you don't want a ring, pick the Apex M1.
Do both fit the Z Fold 5?
Yes. Both Halo M1 and Apex M1 ship in Z Fold 7, Z Fold 6, and Z Fold 5 versions. Select your model at checkout.
Do they fit the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra or Z Fold 8?
Neither is sold for the Z Fold 8 series. The Z Fold 8 Ultra has the same folded footprint as the Z Fold 7 (158.4 × 72.8 × 8.9 mm), but the camera cut-out is the one thing to check, so we only list each case for the models it's made for. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 (the wide model) is a different shape that no older Z Fold case fits. For a slim MagSafe-compatible case sold for both, see the Apex M3 or browse our Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra cases.
Do the magnets damage credit cards or hotel keys?
N52 magnets are strong but the magnetic field is short-range. Chip and contactless payments aren't affected by case-grade magnets. Magnetic-stripe cards — especially older brown-stripe hotel keys — are at risk if pressed directly against the magnets for long periods.
Which one survives a drop better?
Neither is a heavy-duty case — they're slim MagSafe cases. The Apex M1 has reinforced edges for 360° impact defence, and the Halo M1's aluminium build adds durable protection. For more drop protection on a Z Fold 7, see the heavy-duty Vanguard H1 or the shock-absorbent Sentinel H1.
